At the Crossroads: Winter Solstice

During this time of the year, we must pause for a moment and think about our Earth Mother. Because there is a great event that is about to happen in a few more days. The Earth Mother is going to tip and come to a halt on the 21st day of December. She will stop with such abruptness that she will take a step back on her axis and her road of life on the 22nd of December. Only then will she tip back toward the sun and this will start a new beginning for a new year in our northern hemisphere. At this time, before and after the solstice days, tribal people have ceremonies through all of these events and pray that all the good spirits (like angels) will be with us at this time.

We welcome in the new year and a new beginning of life for all things under the sun. This is a beginning of the season of winter in our northern hemisphere. And when some things sleep under the snow in the mountains, and when the snow finally comes down and touches the valley floors, it becomes a time of rest and reflection for some of us. Just like the seasons, this time can bring us into harmony in our lives. We can review our past year and parts of our lives and make the necessary changes to move forward. As we travel on our road of life we cannot take one step back, only our Earth Mother takes one step back before she takes a new direction back toward the light. But in our minds eye we can backtrack. This means to go back along our road of life and to pick up some things we might have lost, parts of ourselves which were split off during traumatic or emotional times. We can welcome those parts of ourselves back into our place of the Now. This will center us and make us whole and we will become one within ourselves.

Backtracking can mean letting go of all the baggage that we accumulate or gather along the way during the year which is preventing us from moving forward in the Now. To begin this process we can do our own ceremony on the solstice. Find a rock, pick it up and hold it. Say all the things to the rock people that are troubling you, things you would like to let go. The rock people are one of the secrets of the Earth Mother, the very core of her being. They are like our Creator, they never change. When you have talked to the rock people, go to a stream or lake or the edge of a bank or cliff. Stand with your back to the water or the land, and throw the rock over your head, not watching where it falls. Just walk away, not looking back anymore. Thank the Creator for your new beginning in the Now of the new year. This will help open your heart to receive more lessons from the Earth Mother as you continue on your journey. This can take you back to the crossroads to take a new direction living in the Now on your road of life. We will see you there.

Happy Now-adays
Acarasara, We love you.
